Wedding Tips

Photographs on your wedding day should reflect heartfelt memories, so to help with the upcoming big day we put some tips together to help show your magical story to you and your family.  After all, YOUR WEDDING DAY IS YOUR OWN FAIRYTALE…

WEDDING GOWN,  HAIR AND MAKE-UP

Although most brides have a trial hair, makeup and dress fitting before their wedding day, we urge that you are prepared and rehearsed well in advance to avoid any late surprises.  Your special day is not the right time to experiment or take any risks which can set you back.

STILETTOS, SANDALS, RUNNERS?? Hmmm.. WHICH WILL IT BE??

If wearing stilettos, add `gel soles` onto your to-do list as a smart purchase.  As your wedding photographer we will want to take you and your partner off somewhere for some interesting portraits. This may involve walking in the sand or if your game, close to the shore!!

Often we recommend that brides bring extra sandals.  If your wedding shoes are taller, or tighter than your used to, you could always take another pair for evening dancing antics.

NO STRESS? NO WORRIES! DELEGATE DELEGATE DELEGATE

It is always helpful to have a timeline of your wedding day activities from the moment you wake up till you leave the reception.  Delegate one or two trusted friends to help you follow your timeline.  Your helpers can also assist with unexpected humps on the day which will remove stress of your shoulders.

It is a good idea to provide a copy of the timeline to us so we review your wedding day plan.  This will also help us to ensure we do not miss any small details like throwing confetti, speeches or dining.  We can also brainstorm where you would like the day photography and the duration at each location.

IN THE RUN-UP TO YOUR WEDDING DRINK LOTS OF WATER

With all the running around leading up to your big day it easy to get dehydrated.  Keep hydrated by drinking plenty of water in advance. On the morning of the wedding, make sure you drink plenty of water in preparation for a buzzing day, this can be followed by a glass of champagne, or maybe 2,3,4….

POSING

“Chin up, a little to the left, shoulders back” you may hear these phrases throughout the day, but more importantly we need you be yourself.  We want to take quality photos of you with your partner being your usual self (only difference will be this is on your special day).

There are many little tricks as your photographer we will gentley remind you. Just listen and we will not lead you astray.

LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION

Outdoor photography is the most popular style of wedding photography, it is important to meet and discuss with us so we can reasearch and scope out the area to cater for your expectations.

Dramatic backgrounds are creative types of photography, so many spaces to be original dependant of your location. A forest, field of flowers, old buildings, barns, city streets, beach side, city park are some experimental ideas.

WORKING WITH YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER

We start with observational photographs which change as your fairytale day unfolds.  Normally, photos of the bride getting ready, we may visit the groom to take a couple of snapshots, we  look at the finer things of your special day like rings, dress, flowers, table settings or perhaps gifts.

We then move onto architectural photography, the important thing to remember whilst having your photoshoot is to relax and be yourself, we will always help you to just enjoy yourself and perhaps forget about the camera/s.  Natural shots make the photographs real.

We suggest you openly express your ideal photography style with us, perhaps bring ideas to brainstorm and select outdoor/indoor venues of where you would like the photography taken on the initial meeting day.
